UNCTAD Trainfortrade Port Training Programme English-Speaking Network “Modern Port Management” Course: Modules 7 to 8

The Modern Port Management Module 7 & 8 were held in the second largest city in East Java. Malang city has a population around 780,000 as the second biggest city in East Java, the city was located on high land with cold weather. Located around 90 kilometers from Surabaya, Malang surrounded by four mountains which were Arjuno Mountains, Semeru Mountains, Kelud Mountains, and Kawi Mountains. The city is famous for its cool air and sometimes called “Paris of East Java.”.
The training for the Module 7 & 8 was held in East Java Province as representative of Pelindo III as host of Joint Training between Pelindo I, II, III and IV. The main topic of the module 7 was “Administration and Legal Management” and for the Module 8 was “Technical Management & Human Resources Development”.
The training was started on Monday, 12 March 2018 and end on Saturday, 23 March 2018. The training attended was 16 participants from Pelindo I, II, III, IV and PT. Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal (Pelindo II’s Subsidiary). Training program also included port visits to Teluk Lamong Terminal (PT Terminal Teluk Lamong), Port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya, East Java.

The Opening Ceremony of this MPM Fourth Cycle took place on Monday, 12 March 2017 at 9:00, at The 1O1 Malang OJ Hotel. It was attended Mrs. Maria Asuncion Hiyasmin Delos Santos (Department Manager, Legal Service Department, Philippine Ports Authority), Mrs. Jasmin Pararuan (Corporate Board Secretary, Office of The Corporate Board Secretary, Philippine Port Authority) and Mr. Eddy Haristiani (Manager of Maritime and Management Academy of IPC Corporate University) here acting as Course Director of MPM training.

For the 1st week of training (Module 7), Mrs. Maria Asuncion Hiyasmin Delos Santos and Mrs. Jasmin Pararuan took in charge of delivering the subjects on ‘The Administrative and Legal Management of Ports’.

For the 2nd week of training (Module 8), Mr. Ciaran Callan took in charge of delivering the subjects on Sub-Module 8a “Technical Management”. Afterward, Sub-Module 8b with subjects on “Human Resources Development Management” was delivered by Mrs. Marjorie Rola together and Mrs. Lilian Javier.
In general, the MPM training conducted in Malang was successfully accomplished by the journey to see the sunrise of Mount Bromo and the tourist attractions in Kota Wisata Batu, Malang.

For the further training, the dissertation will be conducted in June 2018, and will take place in Campus 1 IPC Corporate University, Ciawi.
